About Aurora Glassworks
Hello! My name is Anthony Booth. Artist, designer, and owner of Aurora Glassworks.
I have been a stained glass artist for nearly twenty years. It all honestly began in the early '90s on one cold and boring winter day. Finding myself dissatisfied with my job and enduring the long cold winters of Minnesota, I decided to search out a new hobby and craft to fill my idle time. I decided to enroll in a stained glass class. To my surprise, I instantly fell in love with stained glass and developed a deep passion for the craft. It wasn't long before I found myself taking on larger and larger projects for family, friends, co-workers and the public. Learning advanced techniques, and designing my own patterns, I began making window panels, lamp shades, jewelry boxes, ornaments, and other misc. items. As time went by, I discovered that I was most drawn towards manipulating light through glass and decided that light fixtures and lamp shades were to become my chosen focal area. In addition to working with glass, I also incorporate my love of woodworking into my designs. Being able to combine both passions into one final product have produced what I and many others believe to be a truly beautiful and unique design made by no other.
I truly believe that my lamps make a wonderful and beautiful statement in any room! The pyramid shape, the fluid movement, and the organic look
all lend to a unique and visually appealing design. Living in Northern Minnesota, an entry point to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness,
within Superior National Forest, I can't think of a more beautiful place to find my inspiration or for it to find me. Nature most often serves as my
true source for inspiration. When In my thought process, I strive to incorporate a natural and organic look that is usually found only in nature itself.
When I'm out hiking in this beautiful forest, I'm always amazed when I see newly formed buds on a branch, tender shoots emerging from the soil, unique flora foreign to my eyes, and the most amazing of all, the northern lights! When illuminated, my lamps create a subtle dancing combination of gradient color, organic form and soothing warmth very much like the Aurora Borealis; hence the name, Aurora Glassworks.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my creative home on the web and sincerely hope you have enjoyed what you've seen here. Please return soon to see more nature inspired designs.
